Alary Luttazi
Employee Service Award for the month of July
Alary Luttazi has been with Emergency Management for 6 years working tirelessly as
the Department's Senior Administrative Assistant during her regular daily duties and as
the Administrative Section Lead during Emergency Operations Center's activation.
Alary assists and shares her ideas with all her departmental, divisional and county co-
workers. She was the lead in creating Emergency Management web information;
Volunteer Monroe Web link and many other such web projects. She received a
recognition from the Florida Society of Certified Public Managers and from the
Governor's Hurricane Conference Committee for her professional contribution and
assistance.
Due to her efficiency and attention to budget, the EM department saved approximately $
17,000 in phone charges by eliminating unnecessary phone lines without disrupting, or
minimizing, necessary service.
She continues to go above and beyond her regular duties on daily basis. Alary is a
tremendous asset not only to Emergency Management, but to all whom come to her for
assistance and support. That would include all county, municipal and other entities
personnel, as well as County residents. She represents the Department and the County
honorably and commendably!

Rich Jones is a long time County Employee who exhibits extreme dedication and outstanding
spirit in the enactment of his job as Sr. Administrator, Marine Resources. Over the past several
years, as resources within the County have been downsized to address the decreasing revenue
and budget issues, the Marine Resources department was especially hit hard. As you can
imagine, with the Keys being a marine sanctuary and with the growing number of issues
surrounding water quality and the need to assure our waters are safe and pristine, Rich's duties
have continued to grow. Yet, even with the limited resources, he is dedicated and his
commitment may go unnoticed. He is shouldered with implementing derelict vessel removal,
maintenance of channel markers, management and operation oversight for the upper keys pump
out boat (which includes not only program implementation — but maintenance of boats and their
safe operations), as well as writing and implementing grants. He also manages all of the
county's boater improvement funds and the Marine Advisory Board. Until recently, he even
acted as the secretary of the advisory board and actually transcribed minutes. And, he strives to
assure great contract management for an unbelievable amount of marine contractors associated
with these programs.
All of these duties in the past were distributed among 4 employees, where now there are just 2.
Yet, everyday, Rich comes to work with a smile on his face. He is passionate about doing the
best job he can for providing these programs and service to better the quality of life for the
County.
