BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Board of County Commissioners
Tuesday, August 10, 1999
Key Largo, Florida
A Town Hall Meeting of the Monroe County Board of
County Commissioners convened at 7:00 P.M., on the above date, at
the Key Largo Library. Present and answering to roll call were
Commissioner Shirley Freeman, Commissioner George Neugent,
Commissioner Mary Kay Reich, Commissioner Nora williams and Mayor
Wilhelmina Harvey. Also present were Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk;
James T. Hendrick, County Attorney; James Roberts, County
Administrator; County staff, members of the press and radio; and
the general public.
All stood for the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance.

The following individuals addressed the Board:
Gene Flinn discussed a request to the Board for a
Resolution petitioning the Governor and Cabinet for the building
of a new bridge at Jewfish Creek.
Richard Lancaster addressed the Board and requested TDC
finance beach maintenance; provide funding for regular and
continuing water quality testing programs at all beaches, bays nd
canals throughout Monroe County; the BOCC charge the County
Administrator to direct Staff to monitor and report on the volume
and increasing impact of tourists throughout the Keys.
Barry Patterson addressed the Board concerning the
recreational two (2) day or mini lobster season.
John Hammerstrom addressed the Board concerning the
Jewfish Creek Bridge.
Louis Caputo, representing citizens Against
Incorporation addressed the Board concerning new fire trucks for
the Key Largo Fire Department and video conferencing of Board of
County Commissions meetings.
__ Fred Nickerson, representing the Upper Keys citizen's
Association addressed the Board concerning Affordable Housing,
TDC funding, Full Cost Allocation, Parks, Downstairs Enclosures.

Jill Patterson addressed the Board concerning placing a
copy of the previously televised BOCC meetings at each Monroe
County Library.
John Hammerstrom addressed the Board concerning the
Jewfish Creek Bridge and an Attorney General opinion concerning
casino boats.
Hal Heim addressed the Board concerning bridges.
captain Bob peryam discussed law enforcement on the 18-
Mile Stretch.
Joan Mowery addressed the Board concerning the
expansion of the transportation system for the elderly in Monroe
County. County Administrator James Roberts addressed the Board.
Skip Warner addressed the Board concerning bridges in
Monroe County and the 18 Mile Stretch. captain peryam with the
Monroe County Sheriff's Office addressed the Board.
The Board expressed their satisfaction with the conduct
of the Town Meeting and thanked everyone for their participation.
There being no further business to come before the
Board, the meeting was adjourned. Motion carried unanimously.
