Proposal No. P-397-281
Professional Service Industries Inc. (PSI) is pleased to submit this proposal pertaining to
geotechnical services for the above -referenced project. Included herein is a estimate of the work
effort required to complete the geotechnical portions of the project, based on our understanding
of the project. We have also included our anticipated approach. Our services will be provided
in accordance with our agreement with Monroe County Board of County Commissioners.
INTRODUCTION
Project information was provided by Mr. William A. Bibo of the City of Monroe. The project
will involve the construction a one-story HRS building with approximate plan dimensions of
90x60 feet.

SCOPE OF WORK
Field Exploration
Subsurface conditions within the structural footprints will be explored with a total of three (3)
soil test borings. The borings will be located at the location indicated by the County of Monroe.
The boring will be drilled each to a depth of 25 feet below existing ground surface. We
understand that underground utility clearance will not be required to be cleared at the boring
locations.
The borings will be advanced with a truck mounted machinery using rotary drilling procedures.
Samples of the in -place materials will be recovered with a standard split barrel drive with 140-
pound hammer falling 30 inches (the Standard Penetration Test after ASTM D1586). Soil
samples recovered in the field will be classified and placed in sealed glass containers for
transport to our laboratory. There, an engineer will examine all samples and have a few
selectively tested for physical properties, if required, including but not necessarily limited to
gradation, moisture content and organic content.
PSI has not had the opportunity to visit the site to assure that the site is accessible to our drilling
equipment, however we are assuming that the site is accessible to our drilling equipment.

Using the results of the field exploration, we will assess the geotechnical engineering impact
of the subsurface conditions on the planned construction and provide recommendations for
foundation design and related construction. A report of our findings and recommendations will
be submitted at the conclusion of the study. The report will specifically contain:
Engineering Evaluation and Reporting
• A plan of the site showing the locations of the borings
• Logs of the exploratory borings which furnish the results of the Standard
Penetration Tests.
• Identification of the foundation systems which lend themselves to the site
conditions and proposed structure.
• An evaluation of the alternative foundation systems in terms of their
constructibility, and reliability.
• A recommendation for a preferred foundation system or systems.
• Requirements for foundation preparation
• An anticipation of groundwater levels and methods for handling groundwater
during construction.
• Recommendations for foundation design
• A forecast of foundation settlements
SCHEDULE
Our study can be performed immediately after authorization to proceed. Given the scope
described herein, we can complete the field studies within one working day. We will then
submit a written engineering report within 7 working days following the field demobilization.
Assuming that we will be allowed to perform the study as a fairly continuous effort, we suggest
assuming a 2 week period for our work.

Based on our general knowledge of the subsurface conditions of the site and an interpretation
of your requirements, we are willing to complete the surface exploration employing one soil
boring for a lump sum of $2,185.00. A breakdown of the fee for the Prescribed Program is
provided on Attachment 1.
PSI appreciates your consideration of firm to undertake this project. To formally authorize us
kindly indicate so by signing and returning the Acceptance copy required.
We are pleased to be a part of your team for this interesting and important project. If you have
