ITEM BACKGROUND:
Louisa Delaney Parks worked in Monroe County for 35 years as a legal secretary to Couty Judge
Raymond Lord and Circuit Court Judges Aquilino Lopez and Ignatius Lister. She was considered the
"Grande Dame" of Monroe County legal secretaries.

COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY IN
RECOGNmON or THE LATE LOUISA DELANEY PARKS
WHEREAS. Louisa Delaney Parks a resident of Key West passed away at the age of 83 on
August 5, 2001; and
WHEREAS. Louisa. Delaney Parks was born in Philadelphia on May 31, 1918 to Frank and
Sybil Delaney; and
WHEREAS, Louisa was a descendent of early-day Key West families, and enjoyed talking about
. her Irish arandfatber who arrived here with a group of lrislunen from the old country to build the historic
Martello Towers; md
WlDREAS. Louisa. was a proud graduate of the Convent of Mary Immaculate School and life-
time member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Chwch and the Catholic Daughters of America; and
WHEREAS, Louisa worked in Monroe County for 35 yean as a legal secretary to County Judge
Raymond Lord and Circuit Court Judges. Aquilino Lopez and Ignatius Lester. Louisa was considered the
Onndc Dame of Monroe County legal secretaries; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her duties as a legal secretary and court reporter. Louisa took great
pride in helping newly practicing attorneys learn and work within the judicial s)'Stem; and
WHEREAS, Louisa was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be remembered for heJ'
sense ofhwnor and kindness to aU who knew her, and will be missed by her family &lld friends who know
she is tinally at peace; and
WHEREAS, Louisa was predeceased by her beloved husband, 1. Gilmore Parks, and brothers,
Jack. and Robert Delaney. She is survived by her brother, Frances X. Delaney; her children and their
wives, John and Georgia Parks, Jr.. Robert & Linda Parks. and David A. Parks; her grandchildren. John
and Marisol Parks. and Patrick D. Parks; and five nieces. Barbara Archer. Peggy Brown, Francine
Holland, Jackie Burohi and Claudette Lowe.

COUNTY COMMISSIONERS:

Key West, passed away Aug. 5,
2001, 'at the Miami Heart
Institute.
She was born
in Philadelphia

She was a proud

reporter, Louisa took great pride

the judicial system. Attorneys
with the names Morgan,
Feldman, Eden and Horan were
some that she advised.
Louisa was preceded in death
by her husband, J. Gilmore
Parks, and brothers, Jack
Delaney and Robert Delaney.
She is survived by her brother,
Frances X. Delaney, children and
tlleir wives, John G. Parks Jr.
(Georgia), Key West; Robert D.
Parks (tinda), Pompano Beach,
and David A Parks. Key West;
grandchildren, John W. Parks
(Marisol), Key West, and Patrick
D. Parks of Colorado Springs,
Colo. Also five nieces, Barbara
Archer and Peggy Brown, Key
West; Francine Holland, Miami;
Jackie Burchi, Greeley, Colo., and
Oaudette Lowe, Oearwater.
Louisa was a loving wife,
mother and grandmother and
will be remembered for her
sense of humor and kindness to
all who knew her.
She will be missed by her fam-
ily and friends who know she is
finally at peace.
Visitation will be from 3-5
p.m. today at Dean-Lopez
Funeral Home, with a rosary
service at 4:30 p.m. Funeral serv-
ices will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
at S1. Mary Star of the Sea.
Burial will follow at the Key
West City Cemetery. In place of.
flowers, contributions can be
made to Mary Immaculate
School.
