RESOLUTION NO. 305 -2001
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY IN
RECOGNITION OF THE LATE LOUISA DELANEY PARKS
WHEREAS, Louisa Delaney Parks a resident of Key West passed away at the age of 83 on
August 5, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Louisa Delaney Parks was born in Philadelphia on May 31, 1918 to Frank and
Sybil Delaney; and
WHEREAS, Louisa was a descendent of early-day Key West families, and enjoyed talking about
her Irish grandfather who arrived here with a group of Irishmen from the old country to build the historic
Martello Towers; and
WHEREAS, Louisa was a proud graduate of the Convent of Mary Immaculate School and life-
time member ofSt. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America; and
WHEREAS, Louisa worked in Monroe County for 35 years as a legal secretary to County Judge
Raymond Lord and Circuit Court Judges, Aquilino Lopez and Ignatius Lester. Louisa was considered the
Grande Dame of Monroe County legal secretaries; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her duties as a legal secretary and court reporter, Louisa took great
pride in helping newly practicing attorneys learn and work within the judicial system; and
WHEREAS, Louisa was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be remembered for her
sense of humor and kindness to all who knew her, and will be missed by her family and friends who know
she is finally at peace; and
WHEREAS, Louisa was predeceased by her beloved husband, J. Gilmore Parks, and brothers,
Jack and Robert Delaney. She is survived by her brother, Frances X. Delaney; her children and their
wives, John and Georgia Parks, Jr., Robert & Linda Parks, and David A. Parks; her grandchildren, John
and Marisol Parks, and Patrick D. Parks; and five nieces, Barbara Archer, Peggy Brown, Francine
Holland, Jackie Burchi and Claudette Lowe.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS:
Section 1: The Board hereby adopts this Resolution as evidence of its regret and mourning
for the passing of the late Louisa Delaney Parks.
Section 2: Commissioner Dixie M. Spehar forwards a copy of this Resolution to her
beloved family expressing the Board's sorrow.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida,
at a meeting of said Board held on the 15 th day of August, A.D., 2001.
