Resources Staff Contact Person: Richard Jones/289-2805 AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of a Resolution of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners providing a policy eliminating the five dollar fee associated with the existing County vessel pumpout service. ITEM BACKGROUND: The County has been providing vessel sewage pumpout service in the Key Largo area since 2005. The County has traditionally charged five dollars for the service, as allowed under the Department of Environmental Protection Clean Vessel Act Program which provides grant funding assistance to the County. At the September BOCC meeting staff mentioned the possibility of eliminating the five dollar charge and providing the service for free in order to optimize the incentive for boaters to utilize this service. The revenue lost from eliminating the five dollar fee would be approximately $3,195 (pumpout fees collected from Sept 2010-Aug 2011). This Resolution provides policy direction for the provision of free vessel sewage pumpout service.
