Islamorada Chamber of Commerce Ambassador - 2008 - present. Member since 1986. 2 1/11/2012 Having lived in the Upper Keys since 1984 and owning two businesses beginning in 1986, 1 have extensive background knowledge about factors that have not only affected our individual quality of life, but how commerce (business) and government operate in our unique environment. With a good percentage of both of my businesses being related to the overall well being of our tourism economy, I was kept abreast of all factors (good and bad) affecting revenues and expenses by the owners and general managers of the largest resorts in the Keys as well as the "mom and pop" motels and guest houses. While serving on the Board of Directors of the Key West Hotel & Motel Association in the 90's , our input was important in the selection of the first marketing director for the TDC. Over the years, I have personally known the majority of the members of the TDC, and have a good fundamental understanding of the function of the TDC and the local DAC's. Having done business with the TDC's predecessor, Keys Marketing and Advertising, I followed closely the activities relevant to the formation of our current TDC. I am a firm believer in becoming involved with an organization only if one can commit adequate time to perform the duties and requirements of the position. As a result, I limit the number of boards upon which I serve, so that I may provide my total commitment to the organizations that I become involved with. My first year on DAC IV was (as expected) a learning experience, which has since developed into a good comfort level, not only with the other DAC members, but also with TDC staff, as well as the other businesses and organizations which come before our *DAC meeting packets will be distributed electronically via email to the address you provided on page 2 of this application. My qualifications it elude experience, insight and desire. I have 20 years of marketing ex )enence, including working with agencies supporting the tourism -dependent Park City and Deer Valley, UT accounts. I joined H} att International on a project basis during which I managed the beta test of an international market research tool now integrated into industry standard reports for hoteliers. On 9/11, 1 was part of the United Airlines' account team at the agency. Collectively these experiences gave me insight into travel marketing, tourism economies and the sometimes uncontrollable dynamics of travf I decisions. Academically, I have an advanced degree in integrated marketing communications from Northwestern University,,A here the focus is cultivating customer relationships and measurable return from your marketing efforts. For seven years before coming o the Keys, I worked with companies from Mexico to Canada to understand their customers, and drive revenue by driving key bel aviors. Along the way I fell in love with, and married, a back country guide, drained my rewards points and mites, moved to the i :eys and landed at Marine Bank in 2007. In December 2008, 1 managed the brand conversion from Marine Bank to Centennial Bank and have since maintained a significant role in both the marketing and business development for the Bank. In Of I last three years, our Keys branches have achieved annual double-digit deposit and account growth. Built on insight, our appi oach is effective. From these experiences, I will b ing an Insightful contribution to the table. Miami is projected to soon be one of the top five international cities, a reality that holds many possibilities for the Keys, Islamorada specifically_ As we pull out of hard times, it would be a privilege to be a mer fiber of the District IV Advisory Committee.
