You will note that we spent a total of 171 hours in this matter. Although our fee arrangement with the County is not based on hourly billing, had our contract with the County required us to bill on an hourly basis, our internal records show that the statement for our services rendered would be $36,269.75. In fact our total fee will be $27,652.50, as explained in my June 1, 1993, letter to you. You may recall that during the May 26 meeting, I told you that our fee statement would probably be larger if we billed the County on an hourly basis. The Honorable Shirley Freeman June 22, 1993 Page Two Hopefully, the enclosed information, along with the June 1 letter, will help you understand what services we perform for the County and the amount of time we spend performing them. On behalf of the County, we are responding to your letter of February 13, 1997, regarding the Lost Bond. Section 2.08 of the bond resolution contains the procedures for replacing or payment of a lost bond. This section requires the owner of a lost bond to furnish satisfactory indemnity to the County and pay expenses of the County before the lost bond may be paid or replaced, as applicable. This section also states: "If any such Bond shall have matured * ** the Issuer may pay the same, upon being indemnified as aforesaid, and if such Bond be lost, stolen or destroyed, without surrender thereof." Our fee for assisting the County in this matter will be $750. This fee, plus any additional fee charged by your institution as registrar and paying agent to handle this matter, should be paid in advance by the owner of the Lost Bond before proceeding further. You represented that the Lost Bond matured on 12/1/96 and that all interest had been paid; consequently, we recommend that the indemnity bond be amended by adding thereto "matured 12/1/96, interest paid to and including 12/1/96" to protect the County. Enclosed is the original indemnity bond for your convenience. Upon receipt of the revised indemnity bond, and payment of the fees described above, your institution may pay the principal amount of the Lost Bond to the holders. No further action is required by the County to authorize this payment. If you have any questions, please call me.
