At the February 20, 2013, Board of County Commissioner's meeting the Board granted
approval and authorized execution of Item K2 First Amendment to the Memorandum of
Understanding dated April 18, 2012, regarding FY 2010 Urban Area Security Initiative
("UASI") funds, to grant the Monroe County Sheriff's Office $156,720.49 that was approved by
the BOCC on April 18, 2012. The Total UASI Graint amount of $313,440.99 will be used to
purchase emergency management equipment, as well as, other equipment approved by the
granting agency.

FIRST AMENDMENT TO MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN MONROE
COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND MONROE COUNTY SHERIFF'S
OFFICE (FY 2010 UASI GRANT)
THIS FIRST AMENDMENT ("First Amendment") TO THE MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING dated April 18, 2012 ("MOU") by and between Monroe County Board of
County Commissioners (hereinafter, "COUNTY") and Monroe County Sheriff's Office
(hereinafter, "SHERIFF") regarding the FY 2q.10 Urban Area Security Initiative ("UASI") grant is
made and entered into this 2°fA- day of , 2013.

WITNESSETH
WHEREAS, on January 4, 2012 the COUNTY entered into an agreement with the City of
Miami on January 4, 2012, by which the City of Miami sub -granted the sum of three hundred
thirteen thousand four hundred forty dollars and ninety-nine cents ($313,440.99), of which one
hundred fifty-six thousand seven hundred twenty dollar and 49 cents ($156,720.49) was to be
given to Monroe County Sheriffs Office for the purchase of equipment approved by the granting
agency as well as other items, with the balance to be used by the COUNTY for similar items;
and
WHEREAS, on April 18, 2012 the COUNTY entered into a MOU in order to grant use of
$156,720.49 from FY 2010 UASI funds to the SHERIFF pursuant to the terms of the agreement
between the County and the City of Miami; and
WHEREAS, the COUNTY has determined that the public would be best served by
providing the SHERIFF's office an additional one hundred fifty-six thousand seven hundred
twenty dollar and fifty cents ($156,720.50) in funding to purchase law enforcement and
emergency management radio equipment, as well as, other equipment approved by the
granting agency; and
WHEREAS, the SHERIFF has agreed to purchase emergency management radio
equipment, as well as other equipment approved by the granting agency in accordance with the
COUNTY'S agreement with the City of Miami; and
WHEREAS, it is also necessary to amend paragraph 8 of the MOU in order to update
the contact information for the SHERIFF; and
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual understandings and agreements set
forth herein, the COUNTY and the SHERIFF agree as follows:
Paragraph 4 of the MOU is amended to read as follows:
4. FUNDS - The total project budget to be expended by the SHERIFF in
performance of the services set forth in this agreement shall be the total sum of
$313,440.99. The total sum represents federal grant support in the amount of
$313,440.99 and matching funds in the amount of $0.00. All funds shall be expended in
accordance with the grant agreement.
2. Paragraph 8 of the MOU is amended to read as follows:

8. NOTICES - Whenever either party desires to give notice unto the
other, it must be given by written notice, sent by registered United States mail,
with return receipt requested, and sent to:

3. All other terms and conditions of the MOU between the parties dated April 18,
2012 remain in full force and effect.
