Resolution 124-2013RESOLUTION NO. 124. — 2013 RESOLUTION OF THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSION APPROVING WAYFINDING SIGNAGE CRITERIA TO EFFICENTLY AND SAFELY GUIDE MOTORISTS, BICYCLES, AND PEDESTRIANS TO KEY PUBLIC FACILITIES SUCH AS CIVIC, CULTURAL, VISITOR, AND RECREATIONAL DESTINATIONS WITHIN UNICORPORATED MONROE COUNTY Whereas, the Monroe County Board of County Commission (BOCC) approved a Local Agency Program Agreement with the FDOT in February 2010 for the design, installation, and maintenance of a community wayfinding system; and Whereas, Monroe County staff worked closely with the FDOT and the public throughout the design phase of the project to incorporate community preferences and to ensure compliance with Rule 14 -51, FAC, the FDOT Traffic Engineering Manual, and the FDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Projects; and Whereas, the BOCC approved the final plans and specifications for the wayfinding program in May 2012, and Whereas; final signed and sealed contract plans, dated June 5, 2012, which constitute Monroe County's Wayfinding Program, are on file in the FDOT Traffic Operations and Local Agency Program Offices in Miami and at the Monroe County Public Works Division in Key West; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOCC, THAT: Section 1. Monroe County will construct the wayfinding signs under a Local Agency Program Agreement according to the FDOT approved contract documents, dated June 5, 2012. Section 2. Future wayfinding sign requests initiated by the county will be applied for via FDOT's permit process. For consistency, future wayfinding sign requests will conform to the same design standards outlined in the final LAP plans and the criteria established in Rule 14- 51.030, FAC. } W z Ni Section 3. The county requests that future wayfinding sign requests initiated by other municipalities directlgt FDOT be consistent with the sign specifications in our final approved LAP package.
