Dear Commissioner Carruthers,
I am pleased to submit my CV in consideration for the open seat on the Tourist
Development Council to represent the public sector. It would be an honor to serve on
this important council to grow sustainable tourism, improved visitor experience and
residential quality of life in Monroe County.
During the past 6 years as City Commissioner, I have relied heavily on the data
provided by the TDC to make long term decisions for the City of Key West.
Marketing Key West and Monroe County is a passion of mine. My business
background includes 39 years of marketing and sales experience, with 10 of those
years dedicated specifically to European marketing. I spent 3 years living in England
developing and executing marketing and sales plans throughout England, France,
Germany, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Ireland and Scotland. In that time I had an
opportunity to understand how important vacations are for Europeans and how they like
to spend their 12-15 weeks of "holiday". I also had the opportunity to work with
marketing departments for our distributors in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Israel.
Throughout my career, I have always been a team and consensus builder which I
believe would serve the Council well. I would strive to be a positive contributor in our
efforts to attract new sustainable forms of tourism while balancing these efforts with a
mindful eye on quality of life issues for our residents. The direction of the TDC is critical
for the future of Florida Keys tourism and I would take this commitment very serious. I
ask that you give me an opportunity to serve on the Tourist Development Council.
With KindestRegards,
Teri Johnston
