PROCLAMATION
LAW ENFORCEMENT MEMORIAL WEEK
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers steadfastly provide an extraordinary level of
service for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, under often-difficult and
dangerous circumstances; and
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers and their loved ones must live with the possibility
of life-threatening violence every day they are on the job; and
WHEREAS, as a consequence of this danger, many law enforcement officers have made
the supreme sacrifice for their communities; and
WHEREAS, hundreds of courageous public safety officers lost their lives in the tragedies
of September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers and grateful citizens pause every year to honor the
memory of these officers and the officers who have lost their lives serving
the citizens of Monroe County
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Danny L. Kolhage, Mayor of Monroe County, do hereby declare

I urge all citizens,
residents and visitors of Monroe County to remember those law enforcement officers
who fell holding the thin, blue line that stands between good and evil. I invite our

community to attend the Law Enforcement Ceremony on Friday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m. at
the Bayview Park in Key West.
