ITEM BACKGROUND: On July 20, 2016 the Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement between Big Coppitt Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., and the BOCC to accept and transfer to Monroe County the physical assets of the Big Coppitt Volunteer Fire Department Corporation, including title; one asset being the 2012 Ford F-150 Ford Truck. The vehicle asset was previously encumbered by a lien, which was paid in full by the corporation during the ongoing dissolution process in order to secure title. The Agreement dated June 18, 1997between the Board of Governors of Fire and Ambulance District 1 of Monroe County and the Corporation agreed to reimburse the Corporation for the cost of vehicle insurance and to pay $550.00 per month to the Corporation for the purchase/lease and associated and/or related operating expenses of the motor vehicle to be used by the Corporation. Upon the transfer of said title by the Corporation to the County, the District will no longer pay these fees and that would have gone to said costs in order to reimburse the Corporation in the payoff of the vehicle loan. The vehicle is in sound condition, both operationally and aesthetically, and will continue to be used for the purpose of response to fire rescue related incidents to provide support and incident command activities at the scene.
