I believe it is important to all of us that live and work in Monroe County to support our visitors and the industry that brings them
here. Our local United Way's mission is to support working families in the Florida Keys, and the vast majority of our working
families are dependent on tourism in this community for their survival. We cannot be successful in supporting the majority of our
friends and neighbors if our most important industry does not continue to thrive - in a sustainable way that considers the needs of
both our visitors and our year -round residents.
I have lived and worked in the Keys for nearly 2 years now, and before that spent my entire life visiting all areas of the Keys since
my earliest childhood. The experience here as a resident has only served to underscore my appreciation for the beauty and
magic of the Keys, and this summer my wife and I bought our first home on Ramrod Key. United Way of the Florida Keys serves
families from Ocean Reef to Key West, but living now in the Lower Keys has given me a renewed appreciation for the "forgotten
Keys" from the 7 mile bridge to outside Key West. I would like to serve my community in the Lower Keys, and believe my
background in service and bringing the community together makes me uniquely qualified to do so as a DAC II At -Large member.
