RESOLUTION NO. 290 -1998
A RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF
THE LATE CATHERINE PEASE ALBURY.
1998; and
WHEREAS, Catherine was born in Key West on February 9, 1906, to William D. Pease
and Julie M. Roberts Pease; and
WHEREAS, Catherine taught school in Key West from 1926 to 1935 when she and her
family moved to Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Catherine married Everett Albury, also a beloved Conch and one of Key
West's best qualified athletes; and
WHEREAS, Catherine is survived by her children Bill Albury of Miami, Russ Albury of
Islamorada and Dorothy Lowe of Tavernier, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren;
now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Board hereby adopts this Resolution as evidence of its regret and
mourning for the passing of the late Catherine Pease Albury.
Section 2. The Board hereby requests the Clerk to forward copies of this Resolution
to her beloved family to express the Board's sorrow.
"Ms. Catherine proved such an ideal person that anyone knowing her had to feel he
or she had been "touched by an angel." Of all the Conchs of Monroe County, Catherine
Pease Albury was the most typical of Conchs - kind, helpful, Christian, noble, caring for
others, etc.," said Mayor Pro Tem - County Commissioner Wilhelmina G. Harvey, "Ms.
Catherine will be missed on earth."
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 8th day of July, 1998.
