I was hoping that I could get on the agenda for the May 18th meeting. 15 years ago the county bought and installed signs for the airport to make people aware that it is an airport and keep people off the runway and from parking on side of runway. Through the years people have run signs over, some lost through sewer work, etc. Three years ago we put up a beautiful entrance sign at the cost of 20,000.00 hoping that would keep people off the runway. However that has not seemed to help much. We would like to replace the signs that were already there. We have bought the poles at the cost of 1404.00. Ordered the sign and will pay for them. We were hoping the county would drill the holes and implant the poles. We spoke with Judith Clark and she said the county could not help us. We are hoping the county would reconsider. We do not receive any county nor state funding. We charge a yearly landing fee of 1050.00 per person per year to offset some of our expenses such as grass mowing, taxes, runway repaying, insurance, electric, etc. We have allowed Trauma Star to use our Airport at no charge for at least the last 15 years. Thank you for any help you can do for our airport. jJ. ;V - R-1 TT/uu/lAA'' , / nn lW y L Nam` d Public Works Division AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE PARKING OF VEHICLES WITHIN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF NORTH AND SOUTH AIRPORT DRIVE. Here is where we need help now, as we now are at the stage, post roadway and sewer project, to place our new and improved "Airport Safety" signs around the boundary of the airport. 3) Most of the signs that existed there before are gone or broken. We invested in and purchased all new "Round Pole" aluminum sign poles and have had our sign folks design new and improved "Safety Signs" to alert the public and private users of the "Active Runway" and prevent a "Runway Incursion". Summerland Airport has welcomed county law enforcement assets and various other county EMS services (To include Helicopter Ops) to use our airport, free of charge; in the essence of good community spirit. 4) Yet we want to enhance our "Public Safety and Alertness" footprint going forward. Attached you will see the signs we want to placeon the private property of the airport boundary. They will be implanted where the old ones were placed by the county many years ago. The will be 7 feet from the edge of the "Public Roads" Airport Dr N and S. in the county "right of way zone" that extends into our airport property. 5) So far we have received some preliminary assistance from the county as to getting the permits to implant the signs. 6) What we are trying to get assistance with from the county is in the "Implantation" part of the sign poles. We are seeking "Quality and Correct Processes". 7) Thank you for your assistance in this project to ensure a cooperative airport public safety and awareness system is in place.
