AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Ratification of the Key West Fleet Office Emergency purchase of
services with Sea Tech of the Florida Keys, Inc. for the reconstruction of the Fleet Office building
features affected by the mold remediation. This purchase is funded with $56,050.00 of Ad Valorem
tax.
ITEM BACKGROUND: An emergency was declared on November 8, 2016, in response to the
discovery of mold within the Fleet Management Office Building in Key West. A purchase order
was put in place on December 2, 2016, with Sea Tech of the Florida Keys, Inc. to replace the
building features that contributed to the presence of mold within the building and those that were
removed during the mold remediation process.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: None.
CONTRACT /AGREEMENT CHANGES:
Ratification of the purchase of services from Seatech for the mold remediation and reconstruation of
the Fleet Offices in Key West.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval as stated above.

Attached, please find EE &G's proposal for the remediation of the fleet building
We have made inquires into hotels for next weekend and find limited availability at much higher rates. We
would like to start Tuesday at 3:30 to 4:00 PM, so we can finish the remediation work by Friday.
That give the county today and tomorrow to remove the contents and furnishings.
The work area would then scrub /filter the air over the weekend and take air samples Monday. Results would
be available by noon on Tuesday. We will return to site Tuesday to remove the containment/equipment or to
re -clean if results warrant additional cleaning.

We could start this Tuesday, 11 - -8. This would take 4 days to be complete the remediation and be ready for air
testing. Results would be available the following Monday with tea rd own/rem oval of containment on Tuesday.
All scheduling is contingent on acceptable air sampling results.
A Tuesday start is based on the building being vacant by Monday evenng.
We would need to know by Monday at noon.
We would like to have four straight days on site and not have to work through the weekend when hotel
availability is scarce.

Sorry, i have been unavailable today in class. I spoke with Ramsey regarding his onsite observations. I need to
find out what you want to do regarding the contents and furnishings. According to Ramsey this condition has
existed for a while. Will you move the contents and furniture out to storage? Or do you want EE &G to
decontaminate the contents? The furniture?
We would need to coordinate the cleaning and passing it off to your employees to move or store. Or you
provide an on site storage container that we can place the furniture in if you have us do the decontamination.
Please let me know or i can provide alternate pricing for these activites.
I will prepare a proposal tonight and have it to you by 800 AM tomorrow.
