A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA TO ALLOW THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT
HIGGS BEACH FOR A FUNDRAISING EVENT SPONSORED BY THE Monroe
Association for Retarded Citizens, Inc., DBA Monroe Association for
ReMARCable Citizens.
WHEREAS, Monroe County Code of Ordinances, Section 18.26(b)(2) states that the Board of
County Commissioners may grant a waiver to the prohibition against the possession and
consumption of alcoholic beverages on Higgs Beach on a per event basis to a nonprofit
organization; and
WHEREAS, the Monroe Association for Retarded Citizens, Inc. d /b /a as the Monroe Association
for ReMARCable Citizens, known colloquially as the "MARC House," a nonprofit organization is
requesting to sponsor a fundraising event on County owned property located at Higgs Beach that
includes the sale of alcoholic beverages; and
WHEREAS, the fundraising event is being coordinated with Salute's restaurant; and
WHEREAS, the event will be a movie screen simulcast of a Jimmy Buffett concert on April 1,
2015; and
WHEREAS, the event organizers have agreed to provide a law enforcement officer to preserve
public order; and
WHEREAS, all other activities and requirements for this purpose shall require prior approval by
the County Administrator or Deputy County Administrator;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED
FOR THE FUNDRAISING EVENT SPONSORED BY THE MONROE ASSOCIATION FOR
RETARDED CITIZENS, INC. ON APRIL 1, 2015 AT HIGGS BEACH, KEY WEST, FLORIDA.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a
regular meeting of said Board held on the 18th day of February, 2015.
