AGENDA ITEM WORDING:
Closed session of the Board of County Commissioners and the
County's bargaining team to prepare for upcoming negotiations with Teamsters Local 769.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
Monroe County has approximately 120 employees in the Teamsters
Local 769 bargaining unit, most of which are Public Works employees or bus drivers. The current
collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local 769 expires on September 30, 2017. The
negotiating team representing the employer is requesting this session in order to provide a status
update and get direction from the Board re: salary and benefit offers for a new contract.
Section 447.605(1), Florida Statutes, authorizes the Board to meet in closed session with the County
