HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 322-1998 Commissioner Douglass RESOLUTION NO, 322 .1998 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS CONCERNING THE REMOVAL OR RELOCATION OF THE MOBILE HOMEOWNERS OF THE CORAL KEY VILLAGE MOBILE HOME PARK ON CONCH KEY WHEREAS, Coral Key Village Mobile Home Park is located in unincorporated Monroe County on Conch Key at Mile Marker 63; and WHEREAS, Coral Key Village has been a mobile home community for several decades; and WHEREAS, many of the tenants and homeowners at Coral Key Village are full-time residents of Monroe County, some of whom are employed in the community, other are commercial fishermen, while others are senior citizens on fixed incomes; and WHEREAS, some of the tenants and homeowners at Coral Key Village have lived there for several decades; and WHEREAS, Coral Key Village serves a critical role in providing affordable housing in the Middle Keys; and WHEREAS, the owners of Coral Key Village have formally announced their plans to shut down the Park and evict the tenants of the Park effective December 1, 1998, so that the owners of the Park can change the use of the Park property; and WHEREAS, in order for the owners of Coral Key Village to close the Park and to convert the use of the land to another use, permitting and approvals will be required by Monroe County as well as various state agencies; and WHEREAS, Florida Statutes Section 723,083 states: No agency of municipal, local county or state government shall approve any application for rezoning, or take any other official action, which would result in the removal or relocation of mobile homeowners residing in a mobile home park without first determining that adequate mobile home parks or other suitable facilities exist for the relocation of the mobile homeowners. :::t: 0 \D .." 0 CD - and; ::z:: )> :z- r- :::oo~ ~ rrJ Or...;." 0 fTl ~-< N .." o' r OC? <::) C::~::r. ::0 ;:z, '=> :z- ::0 -tn, :z m :<-t::I: ~..g ("') ..,.,0 > <::) ,.... c;') t.) ::0 :%> rrl .. N 0 WHEREAS, Monroe County has determined that neither adequate mobile home parks nor other suitable facilities exist in Monroe County for the relocation of the Coral Key Village mobile homeowners; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA that: The foregoing recitations are hereby adopted as finding of fact by the Board Section 1. of County Commissioners of Monroe County. Section 2, Monroe County will take no official action which would result in the removal or relocation of mobile homeowners residing at Coral Key Village until adequate mobile home parks or other suitable facilities have been established in the Florida Keys for the relocation of the mobile homes and the mobile homeowners who reside at Coral Key Village Section 3.
