The coming years will present our keys communities with a variety of challenges and the pace of change will quicken. There will be a displacement of occupations and economies and greater pressures on our fragile environment. All these will require strong leadership skills, which I' am confident that I can provide. Tough the tourism industry is critical to the well being of our markets, it is precisely in this area where the impact of change will be felt most. This change to come, will impact our other non tourism related businesses and their needs have to be addressed. All this pressure on our small businesses will be the result of growing competition for the tourist dollar. The stress to produce a "better value" proposition to would be visitors, will be more pronounced and will require greater creativity in packaging and promotion. The proper balance needs to be achieved between these conflicting demands of the local business and the tourist. I have the skill set to lead and contribute toward these necessary goals. My personal history with the Florida Keys dates back to my youth. I traveled on the Old Highway of the 70s and I fished and practiced water sports in Bahia Honda and Key Largo then. Through the years my love for the keys has grown. I now have been a permanent resident in Key Largo and a homeowner since My insurance business regularly takes me to all the keys of Monroe county and my roots in the Upper Keys are deep. t is time for me to give back to the community that has been so good to me, and invest my time and energies in promoting the nterest of our locals in our place in paradise, which are the Florida Keys. Florida Keys, not just a destination but a state of mind. 'DAC meeting packets will be distributed electronically via email to the address you provided on page 2 of this application.
