Announcement of the winner of the Performance Excellence
Motto and Logo Contest and Presentation of Award and Certificate.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
Monroe County has embarked on its journey to performance excellence.
Mission, Vision and Value Statements were created and adopted to provide the principles that guide
us. To further our commitment to the County’s Mission, Vision and Values, the Communications
Team held a contest to choose a new Motto and Logo for the performance excellence process. The
Team narrowed down twenty (20) submissions to four (4) finalists and voting was conducted by
County staff from July 23, 2007 to August 3, 2007.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
On May 16, 2006, the County adopted revised
Mission, Vision and Value Statements, and on November 15, 2006, the County held the Signing
Ceremony to celebrate and proclaim our commitment to Monroe County’s Mission, Vision and
Values.

Communication = exchange of ideas. We believe that two way communication
amongst our organization, our employees, and our citizens is essential. We encourage
feedback and the sharing of ideas. By working together, we can share information and
improve our services through open government.
Continuity = fairness, equality and sustainability. We believe in fairness and
equality and place emphasis on truth and honesty in all of our actions. Through the use

programs.
