The subject road runs in the north / south direction along the eastern shore of Ramrod Key between Shannahan Rd and Old State Rd (please see attached map). All but one of the platted lots on the west side of the subject road are publicly owned conservation lands (either Monroe County or the State of Florida). The single private parcel on the west side is submerged lands (tidal pond). The large privately owned parcel on the east side of the road contains mangroves and submerged lands. Therefore, it appears that this section of Mariposa Road is no longer needed for access. Currently, the road is accessible by vehicles, which enables dumping and other illegal activities. In order to avoid further dumping and damage to the conservation lands, I am requesting that a barricade of some kind be placed at either end of this section of Mariposa; one at the intersection with Shannahan Rd and the other at Old State Rd. The barricades should allow for pedestrian access. I would be happy to meet with you on site to discuss the situation. Thank you for your help.
