While we had every intention to complete this project on time, there are circ~
beyond oui contro. 1 that win force us to 10 beyond the deadline. The sewer plan IMIlllOw
require DEP approval and permitting) after finding that the City Garden cannot fled up to
eitber the existing ColDlty public works lines or the existing Bayshore Manor liP. Yie
have been informed that both systems 8IC antiquated and need updating. OW' o~ plan
also may interfere with ~me "relics" buried under Bayshore property. !
The Key West Botanical Garden Society will put in a completely brand new Sy~ to
in<:ludc new manholes and piping. The underground line win run straight ~ the
courtyard and stage area and then betwoen the gazebos and down Aguero Circl~. Before we
can finish the stage and courtyard, the utility company, the City and the CountyJ must
apProve this sewer line. Then, it bas to be installed. We aln:ady have in-%tkind ices and
product anangcd for this venture. (Fred Hildebrandt, civil engineer, has 0 . his services
to do the new design and to help us apply to DEP. Bee Brothers bas offered to the

The construction portion of this project will be completed 60 days after the ne'" line is
approved and du& which we estimate will be the end of November 2002. The ~ will be
hooked up 30 days from the DEP appr~ which should be around the end ofbecember
2002. We still plan the grand opening for January 18 and 19 of 2003. !
With your patience and OUl' fortitude, this project will be completed and to first~lass
