ITEM BACKGROUND: During his travels throughout the County and through interactions with members of the public, the County Administrator has repeatedly heard of interest for these projects among the various communities. As the County staff develop a long-term capital plan, adetailed knowledge of what is required by each of these projects is essential for proper evaluation. Chamber of Commerce Resolution of the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce Key Largo, Monroe County, Florida March 17, 2013 Whereas Monroe County is considering community enhancement programs for the various sub areas with a portion of the proceeds available from the county sales tax extension , and Whereas many of the citizens of Key Largo have expressed a keen interest in a community events facility that has US -1 frontage and water access, and Whereas the citizens of Key Largo had previously formed a broad based citizen's committee with the intent of trying to facilitate the acquisition of a community events facility that at one time even considered creating a special taxing district, and Whereas the property known as Rowell's Marina is ideally suited for such a community events facility, and Whereas the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce would be willing to work with a Key Largo based Community Committee, and Monroe County to help create a business plan for the facility to pay for the ongoing cost of having such a facility, and Whereas such plan would include public water access, public access boat ramp, public access docking facilities, adequate car and boat trailer parking for those who use the public access boat ramp facilities, events facility that can be rented by the public at reasonable rates to host a multitude of events, and other revenue generating services to fund the ongoing maintenance of the facility, and Whereas the Key Largo residents and businesses will directly benefit from a US -1 fronted public access water front facility.
