A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE FINAL
RESIDENTIAL SOLID WASTE COLLECTION,
DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING RATES FOR THE
FISCAL YEAR 2017 -2018
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. The Board hereby adopts the following final rates for Collection of Residential Solid
Waste:
1. For each single family home - $189.00 per annum;
2. For each mobile home- $189.00 per annum;
3. For each multi- family unit - $189.00 per annum.
Section 2. The Board hereby adopts the following final rates for Disposal of Residential Solid
Waste:
1. For each single family home - $147.00 per annum;
2. For each mobile home- $147.00 per annum;
3. For each multi- family unit - $147.00 per annum.
Section 3. The Board hereby adopts the following final rates for Recycling of Residential Solid
Waste:
1. For each single family home - $50.00 per annum;
2. For each mobile home- $50.00 per annum;
3. For each multi- family unit - $50.00 per annum.
Section 4. The Board hereby adopts the following final rates for Fiscal year 2017 -2018:
1. For each single family home - $386.00 per annum;
2. For each mobile home- $386.00 per annum;
3. For each multi- family unit - $386.00 per annum.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a
meeting of said Board held on the 27th day of September, 2017.

NOTICE OF HEARING TO REIMPOSE AND PROVIDE FOR
COLLECTION OF SOLID WASTE SERVICE SPECIAL
ASSESSMENTS
Notice is hereby given that the County Commission, Monroe County, Florida will
conduct a public hearing to consider reimposing solid waste service assess-
ments for the Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 2017, against certain improved
residential properties located within Monroe County and the City of Marathon,
Layton and Key Colony Beach to fund the cost of solid waste collection services,
facilities and programs provided to such properties and to authorize collection of
Such assessments on the tax bill.
The public hearing will be held at 5:05 p.m. on September 27, 2017, at the Harvey
Government Center, 1200 Truman Avenue, Key West, FL 33040 for the purpose
of receiving public comment on the proposed assessments. All affected property
owners have aright to appear at the hearing and to file written objections with the
County Commission prior to the hearing. Pursuant to section 286.0105, Florida
Statutes, notice is given that if a person decides to appeal any decision made
by the County Commission with respect to any matter considered at the hearing,
such person will need a record of the proceedings and may need to ensure that
a verbatim record is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the
appeal is to be made. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act,
persons needing a special accommodation or an interpreter to participate in this
proceeding should contact the County Administrator at (305) 292 -4441, at least
48 hours prior to the date of the hearing. If hearing impaired, contact the Florida
Relay Service Number, 711 (fDD) for assistance.
The total annual solid waste assessment revenue to be collected within Monroe
County and the City of Marathon for the upcoming fiscal year is estimated to
be $12,440,000. The rate of assessment for the upcoming fiscal year shall be
$386.00 per residential dwelling unit. The maximum rate of assessment that
can be imposed in the fiscal year commencing October 1, 2017 and future fiscal
years shall be $396.00 per residential dwelling unit. Copies of the legal docu-
mentation for the assessment program are available for inspection at the County
Administrator's office, located at the Gato Building, 2nd Floor, 1100 Simonton
Street, Key West, Florida.
If you have any questions, please contact the County at (305) 292 -4536, Monday
through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The assessments will be collected on the ad valorem tax bill to be mailed in
November 2017, as authorized by section 197.3632, Florida Statutes. Failure to
pay the assessments will cause a tax certificate to be issued against the property
which may result in a loss of title.
