NARRATIVE
RICK H ICKMAN
15 YEARS OF SERVICE
Firefighter EMT Rick Hickman started serving this community as a volunteer firefighter
in the communities of Big Pine and Big Coppitt from 1987 to 2001. In August of 2002
Firefighter Hickman joined the ranks of Monroe County Fire Rescue (MCFR) as a career
firefighter, and has continued to be a valuable asset to the Florida Keys community.
Firefighter Hickman has completed Fire Officer Classes in addition to other courses
pertinent to the fire service. He has been a positive influence on those that have had
the privilege of working alongside him.
Firefighter Hickman strives for excellence, and is an individual who cares for his
coworkers and those in the community he serves. He is a dedicated and motivated
individual who is invaluable to our young fire recruits. He teaches them about the fire
service culture; stresses the importance of being a professional; and, last but certainly
not least about taking care of those we serve in the community.
Firefighter Hickman has been and continues to be an asset and positive influence
We are proud to honor him with this length of service award.
