AGENDA ITEM WORDING:
Preliminary discussion and recommendations for membership on
Monroe County’sProgram for Public Information (PPI) Committee based on FEMA Committee
requirements.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
Monroe County is working toward FEMA’s Community Rating System
(CRS) entry in 2016. For future additional points, Monroe County is working on formulating a PPI
Committee and developing a Monroe County Multijurisdictional Program for Public Information about
flood hazards and flood insurance. Each local government that chooses to participate (Islamorada,
Key Colony Beach, Key West, Marathon, Layton and Monroe County) needs to appoint at least one (1)
government representative and one (1) public stakeholder. It is required that a portion of members
come from the lender and insurance industry. Further, members that lead agencies that do emergency,
insurance, or hazard public outreach programs would also be beneficial. There are strict attendance
requirements for membership as each member must attend every meeting (estimated 4 meetings/year
for the first year.)
