WHEREAS, the Building, Planning and Environmental
Resources Departments have approved a permit application filed
by San Pedro Catholic Church for property described as part of
Government Lot 6, Section 5, Township 63 South, Range 39 East,
Plantation Key, Monroe County, Florida, Mile Marker 89.5.
WHEREAS, the proposed development
construction of a 4,398 sq. ft. addition; and
involves
the
WHEREAS, Policy 101.3.. 4 of the Year 2010 comprehensive
plan, allows the Board of County Commissioners to exempt
federally tax-exempt nonprofit organizations from the
nonresidential permit allocation system after a finding by the
Planning Commission that such activity will not adversely
affect the hurricane evacuation objectives of the
comprehensive plan; and
WHEREAS, San Pedro Catholic Church has requested an
exemption from the nonresidential permit allocation system; and
WHEREAS, on January 21, 1998 the Planning Commission
heard the request of San Pedro Catholic Church for an
exemption and recommended approval of the request to the Board
of County Commissioners based on the following findings of
fact:
1. San Pedro Catholic Church is a Federally tax-exempt
nonprofit organization; and
2. The approved addition will be servicing the needs of
current Monroe County residents, and thus, will not have
any negative impact on hurricane evacuation times; and
3.
The approved addition complies with
service standards, and other pertinent
County 2010 Comprehensive Plan; and

evacuation objectives of the Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has
considered the recommendation and findings of fact of
Planning Commission and adopts the findings of fact as
own; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS,
that the preceding Findings of Fact support their decision to
APPROVE the request filed by San Pedro Catholic Church,
a federally tax exempt institution, for exemption to the
nonresidential permit allocation system.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners
of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board
held on the 11th day of February, 1998.
