,June 2016marks the 20anniversary of the creation of the State Scenic
Highway program in Florida by the Florida Legislature;and
WHEREAS
, the Florida Keys Scenic Highway has been designated a State Scenic
Highway;and
WHEREAS
, the intent of the designation as aFlorida Scenic Highwayis to preserve,
enhance and maintain the Florida Keys Scenic Highwayas an exceptional resource of the state;
and
WHEREAS
, Florida statute recognizes the outstanding cultural, historical, archeological,
recreational and natural and scenic resources that the Florida Keys Scenic Highway represents;
and
WHEREAS
,the Florida Keys Scenic Highway is a source of pride for ourcommunity
and a destination for visitors from within and outside of the state; and
WHEREAS
, the FloridaKeys ScenicHighway provides regional economic benefitsto
our communityfrom itscorridor designation;and
WHEREAS
, the Florida Keys Scenic Highway attracts travelers using various modes of
transportation whether it be car, bicycle, motorcycle or on foot and representssome of the best
