Approval of Amendment to Contract (Amendment) between the
Monroe County Board of County Commissioners (County) and Lower Keys Marine Towing and
Salvage, Inc. to provide derelict vessel, floating structure and marine debris removal services for an
additional two year term.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
The County approved a three year Contract for derelict vessel, floating
structure and marine debris removal with Lower Keys Marine Towing and Salvage, Inc. on June 19,
2013, which is due to expire on June 30, 2016. The Contract provides for one additional two year
term under the same terms and conditions as the Contract. The Amendment provides for the
Contract to be extended for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2018. It is anticipated that the
cost will be approximately $32,500 per year (average per contractor utilizing eight contractors)
based on a budget of $260,000 per year for the derelict vessel program.
