Approval of Sixth Amendment of Lease between The Florida Keys
Marathon International Airport and Jobe Materials, L.P. This amendment reduces the overall square
footage of the hangar leasehold from 25,000 square feet to 15,528 square feet. This will reduce the
annual rent from $10,762.70 to $6,672.87 (not including taxes) and transfer a 98 x 98 foot section of
aircraft ramp from the lessee to the Airport, which will allow future aeronautical development.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
The Florida Keys Marathon International Airport (Airport) desires to
claim the ramp space at the north side of the existing Jobe Materials, L.P. leasehold. Claiming this
ramp space will allow for free flowing access of aircraft to adjacent leaseholds and to future
aeronautical development on Airport property. Jobe Materials, L.P. agrees to this reduction in
leasehold provided that the annual rent is reduced proportionately and that aircraft access from the
taxiway to the hangars is not compromised.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
On June 14, 2000, the lessee's predecessor in interested entered into a 20 year lease agreement,
allowing the Lessee to construct an aircraft maintenance hangar. September 18, 2002, the County
and Lessee's predecessor in interest entered into an amendment extending the date by which the
construction of the facility had to be completed. February 19, 2003, the County and Lessee's
predecessor in interest entered into a 2nd amendment providing for a second extension of the
completion of the construction. February 21, 2007, the County and the Lessee's predecessor in
interest executed a 3rd amendment providing for the construction of a General Aviation apron and
setting forth the responsibilities of each party. July 18,2007, the County and the Lessee's predecessor
in interest executed a 4th amendment allowing the lessee to provide additional aeronautical services.
January 19, 2012, the County and Lessee's predecessor in interest executed a 5th amendment to the
lease amending and setting forth the leasehold's permissible use. January 19, 2012, the County
consented to an assignment of lease from Tony D'Aiuto d/b/a Antiques Aircraft Restorations as
Assignor to Jobe Materials, L.P. as Assignee.
