MATT ANDERSON
BIOGRAPHY
Matt Anderson is a self-employed businessman and entrepreneur who lives in
Key Largo and is involved in a number of small businesses. He is owner and
CEO of a start-up enterprise called Planepods, a locally -based company that
designs, fabricates and markets prefabricated aircraft hangar kits for sale world-
wide. He is a partner at Cafe Moka, a boutique coffee-shop/bakery/wine bar
located in Tavernier. And he is partnered with his brother in a venture called
Boulder Green Building Components, based in Boulder, Colorado. BGBC
custom designs and fabricates expanded poly -styrene (EPS) wall, roof and floor
structural panels for use in environmentally friendly commercial and residential
building applications.
Matt's professional specialty, however, is aviation,
starting with a bachelor's degree in Aerospace
Engineering from Penn State University. Following
college, he entered the U.S. Air Force as an officer and
pilot. After ten years on active duty, Matt was hired as a
commercial pilot for a major U.S. passenger airline. His
airline career was cut short by a furlough, so he re-
entered the military full-time as a Special Operations
staff officer. Upon completion of a total of 24 years in
the military, Matt did consulting work for a charter
helicopter company that provided contract airlift support
to the U.S. military in Afghanistan and Colombia.
Here's a summary of Matt's professional experience: ❑
4 years as a business development, executive management and operations
management consultant to a U.S. government prime contractor. The
company is a DoD-certified air carrier that operated a fleet of aircraft on a
variety of U.S. military contracts in Afghanistan and Colombia.
Commercial experience spans the spectrum from large corporate employee, to
small business executive, to small business owner/operator. As such, he
has cultivated a practical knowledge of organization, communication,
decision -making, finance, sales and marketing, personnel management,
project management, customer service, and negotiation.
24 years military service as pilot and officer, with leadership positions at all
levels of command-- tactical, operational and strategic. His participation
included Active Duty Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force
Reserves.
Matt has two children who live with him part-time. His son is a junior at OF and
his daughter is a junior at Coral Shores HS. In his limited free time, he likes to
