Ratification and approval of Federal Aviation Administration AIP
Grant Agreement #3-12-0044-034-2016 providing funding for Obstruction Removal - Construction
at the Florida Keys Marathon Airport for the demolition of existing shade hangars located within the
Runway Protection Zone (RPZ) of Runway 25. The project will be funded 90% FAA($144,054.00),
8% FDOT ( grant pending) and 2% PFC.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
The FAA required that the grant agreement be executed no later than
September 15, 2016. Since the next BOCC meeting is September 21, 2016, ratification of the
execution of the agreement prior to BOCC approval is required. The Project will be funded 90% by
FAA, 5% FDOT (grant pending) and 5% Passenger Facility Charges. The project consists of the
demolition of existing shade hangars located with the Runway Protection Zone (RPZ) for Runway
25 that have been designated as obstruction by the FAA and will result in compliance with current
FAA requirements for the RPZ.
