Ratification of the Key West International Airport Air Service
Development Incentive Program, 2016-1. This program will be for qualifying airlines only. The
purpose of the program is to encourage new scheduled nonstop air service, passenger travel and
competition at the Key West International Airport by providing a temporary financial incentive to
commercial air carriers beginning scheduled nonstop service to a qualifying airport destination.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
The Air Service Development Incentive Program has 2 categories of
potential incentive. Category #1 waives 100% of the landing fees for the first twelve (12) calendar
months to qualifying air carriers either new entrant or incumbent that will provide nonstop service
between EYW and a commercial service airport not currently serve from the Key West International
Airport. Category #2 waives 100% landing fees and terminal rent (both common and exclusive) and
Security checkpoint reimbursement charges for the first twelve (12) calendar months to a qualifying
new entrant carrier that will provide nonstop service between EYW and a New York City area
airport or a Chicago area airport not currently served from Key West. All incentive fees will be paid
by the airport from the operating funds to avoid any fee increases to non-qualifying airlines.
