AGENDA ITEM WORDING:
Approval of Amendment to Traffic Signal Maintenance and
Compensation Agreement and approval of Attachment 1: Revised Terms and Conditions with the
Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This amendment and attachment replace the previous
agreement in its entirety and allow for reimbursement for replacement or repair of traffic signals and
devices damaged as a result of third parties or other causes that were not caused by Monroe County.
There is no change to the annual compensation amounts with this amendment.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
Monroe County is the maintaining agency for traffic signals and
emergency beacons on US1 that regulate intersections of US1 and county roads. Due to a lack of
qualified and experienced signal contractors, Monroe County approved and submitted to FDOT a
notice of cancellation of Traffic Signal Maintenance and Compensation Agreement with an effective
cancellation date of July 1, 2018. FDOT has requested that Monroe County approve this Amendment
and Attachment 1 to the agreement which will be in effect for the remaining years of the agreement.

Exhibit A to the Traffic Signal Maintenance and Compensation Agreement which increased

cancellation of Traffic Signal Maintenance and Compensation Agreement with effective cancellation
date of July 1, 2018.
