Approval of Lease Amendment and Extension with Avis Budget
Car Rental, LLC for their Car Rental Preparation Facility at The Key West International Airport
extending the term of contract through December 31, 2022 and increasing the annual rent to
$80,388.24, plus tax.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
Since 1986 Avis Budget Car Rental, LLC. has been operating at The Key
West International Airport and using 24,888 square feet of space for their rental car service facility.
The annual rent paid in 2014/2015 was $79,148.28. The lessee agrees to pay an annual CPI
adjustment percentage after September 30, 2016 according to the current rate at that time.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
The County originally entered into a Lease and Concession Agreement with Avis Budget Car Rental
on 9/05/1986 for fifteen years. On June 20, 2001 the County extended the agreement until June 30,
2004. The county approved an addendum in 2004 to extend the original agreement 1 year for every
$50,000.00 spent in capital improvements to the facility; Avis has completed $923,329.00 worth of
capital improvements which will extend the contract to 2022.
