Ratification and approval of State of Florida Department of
Transportation Supplemental Joint Participation Agreement Number Two to Contract Number
ARK80 providing increased funding of $1,000,000.00 to continue to improve safety at the Florida
Keys Marathon International Airport by removing 11 aircraft shade hangar's from the runway
protection zone and constructing 11 new storage hangars on the south side of Runway 7-25, to be
funded 80% FDOT and 20% Marathon Airport Operating funds.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
The project consists of removing 11 aircraft shade hangars inside the
Runway Protection Zone on the northeast area of the airport, constructing 11 new storage hangars on
the south side of Runway 7-25, new aircraft apron and taxi lanes, drainage improvement and
restrooms. Total project cost increases by $1,250,000.00 from $2,525,500.00 to $3,775,500.00 and
FDOT funding increases by $1,000,000.00 from $2,020,400.00 to $3,020,400.00.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
On May 19, 2010, the BOCC granted approval for the Mayor to execute FAA and FDOT grants as
received to meet deadlines for return to the granting agency and expedite use of grant funds, with
grants to be ratified by the County Commission at the next BOCC meeting
