Approval to reject bid for landscaping services at The Florida Keys
Marathon International Airport.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
A RFP for landscaping services was initiated earlier this year when the
-house landscaper transferred to another County department. On September 22, 2016,
one (1) bid was received from Gardens of Eden, Inc. (see attached Bid Tabulation Sheet) for the
amount of $65,000 per year. Because the fully loaded cost of this position is $56,756, staff
recommends hiring a new in-house employee. Additionally, hiring an in-house employee to replace
our previous landscaper will allow for additional assistance to current airport staff during regular
work hours, for after-hours emergencies, and for special assignments as needed.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
On March 23, 2016, the BOCC approved to issue a
bid solicitation for landscaping services at The Florida Keys Marathon International Airport.
