AGENDA ITEM WORDING:
Approval of new annual agreement with Capitol Group, Inc.
(Robert Reyes) for continuing strategic governmental consulting and lobbying services on behalf of
Monroe County in legislative and executive branches of State government effective October 1, 2016.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
Staff has added stronger conflict of interest language, and desires to have
all state lobbying contracts to begin October 1 September 30. The County continues to require
representation/lobbying/advocacy in the legislative and executive branches of State government. Mr.
This is a new agreement, which, upon approval by the Board, will take effect retroactive to October
1, 2016. A different item on the agenda will extend the old agreement through September 30, 2016.

On July 15, 2016, the BOCC approved First Amendment to Professional Services
Agreement for one year.

On January 21, 2016, the BOCC approved Consent to Assignment of Professional Services
Agreement from Floridian Partners, LLC to Capitol Group, Inc.

On July 16, 2014, the BOCC approved Professional Services Agreement with Floridian
Partners, LLC for one year.
CONTRACT/AGREEMENT CHANGES:
New Contract with existing lobbying firm of Capitol Group, Inc. (Robert Reyes) for one year to
begin on October 1. No change in contract price. Contract language was changed to strengthen the
conflict of interest provision.
