AGENDA ITEM WORDING:
Approval to enter into a contract with Nancy Stroud, Esq. The Law
Firm Of Lewis, Stroud and Deutsch, P.L., to serve as outside legal counsel to review and report on
the Monroe County Sign Code.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
On June 18, 2015, the United States Supreme Court decided the case of
Reed v. Town of Gilbert which altered the constitutionality of content based sign prohibitions

The contract shall take effect on Ocotber 19, 2016 and expire upon the BOCC determination. A
one time flat fee of $12,000.00 shall be paid to the Consultant upon preparing a review and
analysis to present to the BOCC. This would include review and analysis time, meeting with
staff at the initiation of the process, a memo for the BOCC and a meeting at the BOCC to discuss
the analysis. Any additional work will be invoiced at $225 per hour.
