The subject property consists of a 2.5 acre parcel on the ocean side of Sugarloaf Key near mile marker
17. The property has a tier designation of Tier 1 — Natural Area, a zoning designation of Native Area,
and vegetation consisting of salt marsh, buttonwood, mangroves, and water. The Southeast Florida
Regional Climate Change Compact 50 -year sea level rise projection is 9 to 24 inches by the year 2060.
In the event of a 12 -inch increase in sea level, estimates provided by the South Florida Water
Management District indicate this property will have a 75% to 100% probability of being inundated.
The owner has agreed to donate this property. The estimated closing costs for this transaction are
listed in the agenda documentation.
Advisory Committee Action: On October 30, 2013 the Committee voted 4/0 to approve accepting
this property as a donation.
