Serving as the advertising representative for three years, my fellow committee members elected me Vice Chair October 2017. Following a 15 -year career in marketing strategy, I joined Centennial Bank as the marketing director in 2007. Over the last 11 years our Upper Keys deposit base grew nearly 200 %, and last summer I was named Market President. Working throughout the County with business owners powering our economy and civic and non - profit organizations, I have unique insight and understand both the differences between our five districts and the common denominators that we share. Grateful to live in what I believe to be the most beautiful part of the Keys - Islamorada - since 2008 (my parents have had a house here since 1993 - they live across the street from me). It makes me proud to be on the DAC IV, particularly after Irma, Islamorada is down 69% - our little community is facing some difficult times. As a banker, I am intimately familiar with the ongoing economic effects of the storm. Irma created opportunity in some places and destroyed it in others. 2018 will be a reset season for us as the large majority of our resorts recover and rebuild. While difficult now, I have no doubt Islamorada's 2019 season will be tremendous. At Florida Keys Day in Tallahassee this year, we met with Ken Lawson, president and CEO of Visit Florida. I cited the four -penny report declines - most notably Islamorada - and asked for help. With 48% of our rooms online, our bed tax suffers and our ability to market ourselves when we are fully back will be hindered. With the decision last year to not roll capital funds into advertising, would Visit Florida consider subsidizing advertising costs to bring us back to center as quickly as possible. While he made no commitments, he did not say no. It's this kind of bold thinking that our DACs need now to shorten the recovery period and bring people back to the Keys. Respectfully, I ask to be reappointed to the District IV Advisory Committee. Thank you.
