AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval to re- appoint Mr. Charles E. Miller (Charlie),
CGCO23830, to one additional three -year term to the Contractors' Examining Board (CEB)
beginning April 19, 2018 thru April 19, 2021 as second alternate voting member.
ITEM BACKGROUND: The Contractors' Examining Board (CEB) voted unanimously to
recommend the re- appointment of Mr. Charles E. Miller, CGCO23830, to the CEB at the March 13,
2018 meeting.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: Mr. Miller was appointed to the Board on October
1996 to a three -year term ending October 1999, and then re- appointed by BOCC to a second
consecutive three -year term in October 1999 and ending in October of 2002. Per Monroe County
code section 6- 85(a), he was no longer able to serve a third consecutive three -year term.
Subsequently, and after a three -year period off the CEB, Mr. Miller was then appointed to a new
three -year term beginning January 18, 2006 and ending January 18, 2009 as the second alternate
voting member. On December 17, 2007, the BOCC re- appointed Mr. Miller to an additional three -
year term beginning January 1, 2009 and ending January 1, 2012. On March 21, 2012, the BOCC re-
appointed Mr. Miller to a three -year term ending March 21, 2015. On April 15, 2015 the BOCC re-
appointed Mr. Miller to his most recent three -year term ending April 15, 2018.
*On March 21, 2007, the BOCC approved advertising the amendment to MCC Section 6 -85
repealing term limits for member of the CEB. The ordinance was amended effective May 2, 2007
removing term limitations. Per M.C.C. 6- 264(a), regular voting members and two alternate voting
members are appointed by the Board of County Commission (BOCC)
