ITEM BACKGROUND: Monroe County Code Section 6-108(e) allows BOCC approval for waivers of building permit fees for affordable housing which have a Development Order in effect. Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys, Inc. is requesting a building permit fee waiver to build one affordable housing units on Key Largo. Fees are estimated at $7,165.83. This amount is only for the housing unit. Planning Commission Resolution 010-15 approved an affordable housing ROGO allocation for this property on May 27, 2015. r1%AV1Uu5 HELEVA1VT BOCC ACTION: February 10, 2010 — BOCC approved Ordinance 004-2010 allowing waivers for housing for households up to 120% of median income in Monroe County. Housing exceeding 120% may also apply for a waiver if the specific project for development is being subsidized with or is leveraging state or federal funding. The need for affordable housing for our working class in our area is a major issue and our organization is working very hard to address this challenge. Our Family Selection committee has already chosen a family for this home, so the sooner we can get started the sooner we can help put another well deserving family out of a rental and into a home they can be proud of to call their own.
