Total funding from the grant is $2,845,883 of which $849,317 has been spent towards the design phase. The construction phase is estimated at approximately $11.6 million. ITEM BACKGROUND: Monroe County and the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management (DEM) currently have an Agreement to which the State provides a subgrant of $2,845,833 for the purpose of constructing a new EOC. This Agreement will expire on June 30, 2013. The $2,845,833 consists of $1,029,547 in state funds, and $1,816,336 in federal funds. The design of the EOC is complete, utilizing $779,351 in state funds, and $69,966 in federal funds. The State of Florida DEM requested BOCC confirmation of the comity's plan to build a new EOC, and they may extend the sub grant Agreement upon request accompanied by a detailed project timeline. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On June 20, 2007, the BOCC approved to execute a State Funded Subgrant Agreement with the Florida DEM toward design and construction of a new EOC in Marathon. On January 16, 2008, the BOCC approved Modification #1 adding Federal (Hazard Mitigation Phase 1) funding to the Subgrant Agreement. On May 20, 2009, the BOCC approved Modification #2 extending the Period of Performance date (POP) for federal funding from May 8, 2009 to December 7, 2009 and state funding from June 30, 2009 to June 30, 2010. On June 16, 2010 the BOCC approved Modification #3 extending the POP State funding to June 30, 2013. On December 15, 2010 the BOCC approved Modification #4 increasing the total funding by an additional $1,746,370 of federal funds, and extending the POP to August 18, 2011. On August 17, 2011 the BOCC approved Modification #5 to the Agreement extending the POP for federal funding from August 18, 2011 to August 18, 2012, and on July 18, 2012, the BOCC approved Modification #6 extending the POP for federal funding from August 18, 2012 to June 30, 2014.
