Resolution 147-2018r*' n RESOLUTION NO. 147 -2018 A RESOLUTION OF THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SUNSETTING AND DISSOLVING THE MONROE COUNTY MARINE AND PORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE. WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, (hereinafter, "Board ") is the legislative body of Monroe County, Florida; and WHEREAS, the Board recognizes that the challenge of supporting and servicing critical public safety, environmental, and infrastructural marine resource needs in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma is one requiring sensible use of financial resources; and WHEREAS, the Board wishes to provide the residents of Monroe County with the best possible service in the most cost effective and reasonable manner; and WHEREAS, the Board established the Monroe County Port Advisory Committee on or about February 15th, 1977 (Resolution No. 24- 1977), rendered amendatory resolutions regarding said Committee on or about April 19 1977 (Resolution No. 55- 1977), on or about February 20 1991 (Resolution No. 57 -1991 re- naming the Port Advisory Committee the "Marine and Port Advisory Committee "), and on or about April 24 1991 (Resolution No. 138 - 1991), approved Marine and Port Advisory Committee Administrative Procedures and Bylaws on or about June 20 2012, and last approved an amendatory resolution regarding said Committee on or about March 20 2013 (Resolution No. 110- 2013); and WHEREAS, Florida law does not require the creation of, or the continued existence of, a local Marine and Port Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, the County has suffered an extreme external resource shock as a result of Hurricane Irma and the attendant public health, safety, and welfare needs it has generated; and WHEREAS, in view of the need to re- allocate scarce County resources needed to support and service such mitigation and recovery priorities in the post - Hurricane Irma environment, it is deemed necessary and in the manifest public interest to re- orient scarce County resources from said Committee to provide enhanced support and service of such Mitigation and recovery needs and priorities; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OY COUNTY COMMISSIONERS: Section 1 .: The foregoing recitals are true and correct and are hereby incorporated as if fully stated herein. Section 2 .: The Monroe County Marine and Port Advisory Committee, duly established 1 of 2 1 pursuant to the foregoing resolution series, is hereby dissolved. Section 3 .: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption by the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners.
