EXECUTIVE SFARCh1
ADK Overview
ADK Consulting & Executive Search (ADK) is pleased to offer its full - service executive search and
consulting services to Monroe County, FL for the position of Director of Airports. ADK incorporated in
2003 in Jacksonville, Florida with a focus on providing executive recruitment services to the airport
industry. Today, ADK is considered to be the largest search firm in the airport industry based on the
total number of searches performed annually for airports.
The ADK Team performs executive searches exclusively for the airport industry from Large Hub
commercial service airports to General Aviation airports and those industries that support them. In
addition to our renowned reputation for executive recruitment in the airport industry, our team has
decades of industry experience in airport executive recruitment, airport management, board
experience, organizational development, and compensation studies, just to name a few.
Because we specialize in the airport industry, we have the knowledge and expertise to recruit the best
fit candidates for our clients and continually strive to exceed both client and candidate expectations.
The ADK Team is fully committed to providing the highest level of service and results in the recruitment
and development of your leadership team. Just ask any of our clients.
The vacancies we have filled cross the spectrum from CEO / President / Executive Director to other
senior management and executive level positions. Our clients have been cities and counties,
authorities, commissions, boards, executive airport staff and organizations that provide services to the
aviation industry. Our decision makers (hiring managers) have been large authority Boards to as few as
one hiring executive.
The testimony for any search organization is the success and repeat business that has been achieved
between them and their clients. At ADK, we are honored by the number of airports we call "our
clients ". We would invite you to contact any of them for further information.

Recruitment Plan
Our focus is on top performers directing our principal energy and attention to the candidates who
show the highest potential of a good match for this position. At ADK, we target and identify top
performing industry professionals who demonstrate a proven track record of success and best cultural
fit for your organization. ADK's recruitment plan below can be tailored or amended to meet the Client's
needs and /or expectations.
Once we have an understanding of the position based on our discussions and job specifications, we
begin to search for suitable candidates utilizing the following activities:
• Direct Sourcing Strategy and Team Approach: We thoughtfully create a target list of known
potential candidates and a list of organizations that will most likely provide the best fit
candidates for the position. Our team has an incredibly large network in the industry and first-
hand knowledge of airports throughout the country. Our role is to make the opportunity
known to passive candidates. Personal contact is critical to success in recruiting these
candidates.
• Unmatched Database: We have been developing a database of industry professionals since
2003. We electronically contact over 17,000 aviation professionals announcing our searches
through our widely read e- newsletter. We believe our database is unmatched because our
focus is aviation and we have filled more director and senior management positions at
airports than any other search firm since 2003. Because we attend so many different
conferences annually and we fill so many aviation positions annually, our database remains
current and is continually growing.
• Stakeholder Outreach: Your airport is an economic engine serving a broad community of
stakeholder interests. Per Client's request, gathering input from key stakeholders regarding
their thoughts and ideas about the airport, and its management, may go a long way towards
your organization's goal of inclusion and collaboration by allowing those stakeholders to feel a
part of the process. This is an optional service that may have additional fees associated with
its inclusion in the search process
• Advertising: We utilize a variety of marketing and advertising methods to be ensure that as
many professionals as possible are aware of the opportunity. We include a professional online
recruitment brochure, our website current searches page, and industry and specialty online
resources. While we recognize that advertising generates active candidates who are watching
ads, we have found that less than 14% of our successful candidates come from industry
advertising. That is why we place our major efforts into direct sourcing for passive candidates.

EXECUTNF SEARCH
• Internal Candidates and External Candidates: We are your partner in this search irrespective
of the source of the candidates. The majority of our searches include internal candidates and
our client has the opportunity to see how their internal candidates compete on the national
level. If candidates are generated internally, they should be referred to ADK and included in
the overall candidate pool. Each candidate is assessed on their own merits.
Diversity Recruitment
We believe that the most diverse candidate pool starts with our own thoughtful and targeted personal
outreach. Identifying and attracting women and ethnically diverse professionals is an extremely
important role and responsibility of our ADK Team. We maintain an active network throughout the
industry using a variety of means. Because we have been in the executive search industry since 2003,
each of our team members is continually growing a wide network of contacts through each search. Our
associates attend numerous industry conferences such as the American Association of Airport
Executives (AAAE) Annual Conference, regional chapters and specialty conferences, Airports Council
International -North America (ACI -NA), Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC), and the Society of
Human Resource Management (SHRM) conferences. Our associates serve on a number of committees
including the AAAE Diversity Committee and the ACI -NA HR Steering Group, and are called on to speak
at conferences and participate in panels throughout the year.
One of our human resources specialists is a frequently requested national and international speaker at
AAAE, ACI -NA, ACI Worldwide and AMAC conferences on the topic of Diversity & Inclusion. Our
continually growing database exposes every one of our searches through our widely read e- newsletters
that announce our searches. In addition, we advertise in appropriate publications and online resources
that effectively reach diverse candidates for the level of professional expertise associated with the
senior management position.
Because we are committed to influencing diversity in the young workforce, we present to aviation
students and attend job fairs to discuss careers in aviation. These activities enhance our ability to
proactively identify and cultivate promising talent that will become future leaders in the industry.

Work Scope
Phase 1: Search Startup and Candidate Pool Development
1.1 Position Profile and Understanding of the Position
We will meet with Client's representatives to help develop the Position Profile...job specification,
guidelines, qualifications, experience, and ideal candidate traits for an ideal cultural fit. We tour
your facilities, and your community, to provide a better marketing perspective for our team. We
will collectively determine the profile of what you are looking for in your new hire, express your
priorities for the position, and define the exceptional qualities that you want to see in your new
hire. We call these our "hot buttons" conversations. ADK will submit the Position Profile as part of
the brochure update process as well as a firm timetable for the search.
1.2 Marketing and Outreach
Recruitment Brochure
The development of a comprehensive and outstanding recruitment brochure is synonymous with
ADK. It allows interested candidates to learn about the community, the airport, and the Position
Profile discussed above that establishes what is being sought in your ideal candidate. It also
provides potential applicants the necessary information to submit for the position. We invite you
to visit our website at ADK Current Searches for examples of our recruitment brochures. A link to
the brochure will be provided for posting on Client's website.
Stakeholder Outreach
We will conduct stakeholder outreach per Client request (See Page 2).
ADK Network and Direct Sourcing
ADK retains staff who are aviation industry specialists for a reason. We are widely known
throughout the U.S., have personal knowledge of the available talent in the industry, and know
what the typical requirements are for the positions we are retained to help fill. During the ad
posting period, we use our direct outreach process to actively recruit qualified and diverse
candidates for this position. Our knowledge of the industry and nationwide outreach also allows
purposeful involvement of women and minority candidates in our selection pool.
Many of the most talented candidates we have placed come from our direct sourcing and targeted
outreach to industry professionals through personal and direct telephone contacts as well as our
industry leading e- newsletter. Our role is to make this position known to a wide universe of
potential applicants and to cultivate an interest in the vacancy. The quality and diversity of the final
list of candidates is totally dependent on the qualifications of the initial candidate pool; hence, the
amount of time we spend on candidate pool development is critical to the success of our search
process.

We will post recruiting ads with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), Airports
Council North America (ACI -NA), AMAC, Linkedln, regional AAAE associations, and other mediums
as determined necessary and appropriate in consultation with the Client. Ads attract people who
are typically looking for a move and sometimes these ads reach potentially good candidates by
word of mouth through this process.
Dedicated Email
We will set up a dedicated email for candidate submittals and correspondence for the position
such as XYZ @adkexecutivesearch.com, as an example. It will be referred to in all advertising,
linked in all web advertising, and referenced in any electronic communications.
Phase 2: Screening
ADK uses a variety of tools to assesses all candidates, internal and external. Through vetted
screening, we determine the closest match to background and experience that is relevant to the
position. Through the following screening phases, we assess background and skill sets, level of
enthusiasm for the position, cultural and personality fit, reputation, and leadership style.
2.1 Communication
We strongly believe that communication with our clients and candidates is essential to a successful
search. Throughout the search, we communicate with our clients and candidates so that we all
have the same shared expectations.
2.2 Resume Review
Utilizing our targeted ADK analysis, we review the candidates' cover letters and resumes in depth.
We create our ADK Talent Tracker, which is a detailed overview of all of the candidates for
comparison and matching them against the expectations developed in the startup phase.
2.3 Questionnaire
Selected candidates will be asked to respond to targeted questions at this point. These
supplemental responses give us additional insight into the candidates, how they think, an example
of their written communication skills, and more information than is typically found in a resume.
2.4 Assessment
ADK is certified in a variety of professional behavior assessments and will select the appropriate
assessment for the position being filled. Assessments have been shown to be effective tools for
determining likely behavioral traits, motivations and leadership style. Assessments may give an
indication of a person's predictability for success or lead to areas to explore further. ADK treats
assessments as one tool in the toolbox and should not be over - weighted in the overall analysis.

2.5 Video Recordings
We also record a 7 -10 minute video interview snippet and provide that interview snippet to the
Client for review to gain insight into the person's presence and demeanor.
2.6 Interviews /Conversations
Interviews /conversations are aimed at obtaining a better understanding of each candidate's depth
of knowledge in the industry, the personality of each of the candidates, and their enthusiasm for
this position. We obtain an in -depth understanding of the candidate's communication,
management and leadership style.
2.7 References
References are generally performed after selection of finalist candidates. Professional references
give us a great deal of supporting information about the candidates. We look for consistency in
remarks and gain insight into how the person is perceived by others in a working environment.
These may provide areas to be explored during the final interviews.
2.8 Internet and Social Media
We research and investigate the candidates using social media outlets and media search engines
looking for any questionable items /red flags that need to be considered.
2.9 Deliverables: Overview
ADK will present recommendations and make support materials available for review including:
cover letter; resumes; candidates' written responses to the supplemental questions; video
snippets; information from interviews /conversations; references; research and our personal
knowledge of the candidates.
For reference and ease of comparison, the ADK Talent Tracker, in a spreadsheet format, will be
provided to the Client that includes detailed profiles of the individuals. This is a quick snapshot of
our recommendations of candidates to move forward. This report describes the pool of talent
available and their qualifications.
Assessments are not included in deliverables as they are frequently misinterpreted by those who
are not trained or certified. They are administered to give ADK insight into the individuals and help
us make recommendations for best fit based on personality and leadership.
After the Client reviews the materials, ADK will discuss with you the merits of the candidates and
together we will collectively determine the top candidates to be invited for final interviews.

Phase 3: Final Interviews and Negotiations
3.1 Final Interviews
ADK has years of experience in assisting and conducting final interviews for our clients. We will
collaborate with the Client to provide the best possible interview process for the Client
commensurate with established processes and preferences. We assist in planning the interview
process, handle the logistics for the candidates, provide specific targeted questions to be used by
the interview panel, and assist in the final interviews as needed.
3.2 Negotiations and Close - out
Negotiations and hiring assistance are natural for us. While some clients prefer to do their own
negotiations, we always offer assistance upon request from our clients for all of our searches. This
service is as simple as consulting on terms of the offer to providing full negotiations through an
acceptance of an offer between the Client and the selected candidate.
We notify all remaining candidates at the conclusion of this process regarding the outcome of the
selection process with a personal phone call followed up by electronic correspondence. Those who
seek guidance as to their status, and possible shortcomings during the process are given a
courteous and professional response.
3.3 Follow - Up
The first year for a new hire is often the most challenging and important in establishing
relationships with the hiring manager, or governing body, the staff and the community. We follow
up with the placement and our client several times during this transition period offering any
assistance that may be needed.
Placement Guarantee
We always stand behind our full- service searches with a powerful, but remarkably simple, guarantee.
Should a candidate leave or be terminated for cause within the first year after they begin their new
position (excluding health related issues), we will conduct another search to replace the individual at:
• No charge if departure is within the first 4 months;
• 30% of the professional fee paid for the initial search within 5 -8 months of start date; or
• 60% of the professional fee paid for the initial search within 9 -12 months of start date.
• Any travel related expenses approved by Client under the guarantee would be additional .

Timeline
The search schedule does have many variables, including the time required to acquire information
necessary to develop a recruitment brochure (with the Client's assistance), the agreed process to
confirm and approve the recommended candidates, the establishment of the final interview dates by
the Client, the process to be used for final interviews, and the actual interview process itself. Holidays,
vacations, and industry conference schedules need to be considered as well. Overall, a typical selection
process would run from 2.5 - 3 months to have someone selected and under contract. Relocation time
for the selected candidate also needs to be considered. It is difficult to provide a firm timeline before
we have the opportunity to discuss the various process items with our client.
Our process is flexible and the work scope can be customized to meet the needs and expectations of
the Client.
