DONALD LOWRIE (MECHANIC 2) PLANTATION KEY GARAGE
Mr. Donald Lowrie is a US War Veteran and a member of the Monroe County Fleet
Management Department.
In May of 2018 Mr. Lowrie heard a small child screaming next door to his home and he ran over
to help.
When he arrived he saw a young girl being attacked by two large dogs.
When Mr. Lowrie ran up the stairs to help the child he distracted the dogs and she was able to
escape.
Mr. Lowrie was then attacked causing him to fall down the stairs; as he fell the dog continued its
attack.
Mr. Lowrie suffered multiple injuries and was transported to Mariner's Hospital for emergency
medical assistance.
The child received multiple bites. If not for Mr. Lowrie's heroics chances are things may have
been much worse.
As Sheriff Department and Animal control Investigation continues; Mr. Lowrie is honored and
commended for his actions, not hesitating to put himself in danger, possibly saving the life of a
small child; at the very least rescuing her when she was in a very frightening and bad situation.
