AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of Two (2) "At Large" appointments to the Tourist
Development Council District IV Advisory Committee.
ITEM BACKGROUND: These positions were advertised due to Ms. Wendy Gentes being unable
to meet attendance requirements by missing three meetings in a row and the end of term for Mr.
Robert Stober.
The applicants are: Mr. Robert Stober, Mr. Michael Johnson and Mr. Frank Derfler
Approval of two (2) applicants is requested
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: On September 8, 1999, the Board of County
Commissioners passed Ordinance No. 038 -1999 providing for the appointment of "At Large"
members to the TDC District Advisory committees by the Board of County Commissioners.

Brief summary as to our qualifications to serve on this committee:
I am a 20 year resident of Islamorada. In that time I contributed to the community in many ways
from helping people who can't afford healthcare through the Good Health Clinic to being a full time
teacher at Coral Shores High School in 2002. Now, I am a substitute teacher, usually at PKS or CSHS.
I have allocated money to community organizations and to scholarship students in several organizations.
I have balanced 501(c)(3) budgets. I know the needs and I know the work involved.
Many of the organizations I serve in benefit from TDC funds. I have personally presented before two
DACs a nd I und how it works from that side. I have decades of experience in marketing and
hi3gp, written hooks on social media and PC' nmmerrp Now I have the #jme and anargv to Hive to the DAQ
process.
I fully understand the need for careful consideration and fairness a nd I am willi to m ake a positive
contribution to this good, although difficult, work.
